Lie Of Distraction

The great lie of distraction is a massive form of deception that goes back to the tactics Satan used in the Garden of Eden. God had provided everything Adam and Eve needed for life. They wanted nothing. Then Satan comes onto the scene to move their focus off the blessing and provisions of God to the One Thing they were not to partake in. Ultimately deceiving them into disobeying God and eating the apple. He is using the same tactics on many of us today. To keep us so focused on what we don’t have we become unthankful, forget about God, and live life pursuing other things. This is a major element to much of the dysfunction we see in the world around us.
At the heart of the story of the Garden of Eden is the lies of the serpent. Those lies continue to serve as the foundation of a campaign launched against all of us. This campaign is formulated to cause greed, discontent, identity crisis, and every other evil work. A major component of this deceptive campaign is the power of distraction. It is designed to distract us and get our eyes off the provision and goodness of God. The overall strategy is to move our focus on what we do not have or who we have not become. Setting us up to pursue things or changes to make us feel complete or fulfilled. Ultimately the goal of these evil powers is to distract you and me from entering into an eternal relationship with the Lord.
In these last days, you can see the dark rulers within the matrix pushing their lies and negativity far more aggressively. There seems to be a relentless pursuit of things and a growing dissatisfaction with our gender, sexuality, and bodies which is God’s creation. You can see many of us modifying our lives because of false messaging suggesting we do not have what they call the idea of height, weight, look, or color. As we run the race of achievement and material consumption we fail to pause and consider what good is it to gain the world and its approval while losing our soul.
Now it seems identity confusion rules the day. Waste and the raw pursuit of more are destroying our natural resources. Rebellion and disobedience to Christ are rampant. Matthew 24:12 says “The increase of lawlessness is causing the love of many to grow cold.” This has become more visible in so many ways with senseless mass shootings, brazen robberies, and human trafficking just to name a few methods of destruction we currently live with. Think about this for a moment, Matthew 6:25 tells us not to worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothes? Yet, we live in a world where billions and billions of dollars are spent to keep us obsessed over shoes, clothing, jewelry, and many other mostly meaningless things.
Worry, stress, and anxiety are at epidemic levels. This is not happening by accident. The powers of darkness are very intentional in their efforts to ensure each one of us continues to feel inadequate and unworthy of having a relationship with Christ. If they can keep us consumed with the pursuit of money, things, entertainment, and the pleasures of this life; they know we will not pursue a relationship with the Lord. None of us can serve money and God you will have to choose one or the other. The passage found in Philippians 4:6 exhorts us to not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Christ came, died, and rose again to restore our relationship with God.
